 Q:Is there another way to receive FDIC insurance for large dollar amounts without having several ownership categories?
A: Yes, this can be achieved through CDARS®. CDARS® is the Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service®, available through Leaders Bank. FDIC insurance coverage is available on certificates of deposit currently up to $30 million. When you place a large deposit with Leaders, we work with our CDARS® network to place your funds into certificates of deposit issued by other banks in the network. This occurs in increments of less than $100,000 to ensure that both principal and interest are eligible for full FDIC insurance. Other network banks do the same with their customers' deposits. With the help of a sophisticated matching system network members exchange funds. This exchange occurs on a dollar-for-dollar basis, so that the equivalent of that deposit comes back to Leaders Bank. The full amount of the original deposit becomes eligible for complete FDIC protection and you receive just one regular statement detailing all of your holdings.
