Elizabeth Snyder Added to ABA
Elizabeth M. Snyder, Senior VP and Chief Compliance Officer of Leaders Bank, has been appointed Vice Chair of the American Bankers Association's (ABA) Compliance Administrative Committee, a prestigious group of banking professionals that assists in guiding the ABA's focus in the highly strategic area of compliance. Compliance is focused on instituting regulations to strengthen the banking industry and keep business and consumer confidence in banks high, which is critical due to unpredictability in the global environment. As new and complex regulations are continuously proposed and instituted, understanding and complying with them is key to keeping banks safe for businesses and consumers. With her extensive background in compliance and risk management, Snyder has served for the past three years as one of 15 veteran banking professionals chosen to sit on the ABA's Compliance Administrative Committee, formerly known as the Compliance Executive Committee. Effective this fall, Snyder will serve as the committee's vice chair as it assists in determining compliance priorities for the ABA, responses to proposed regulations, and what resources are needed to assist association members. After serving as vice chair for 2008-2009, she will then assume chairmanship of the Compliance Administrative Committee for 2009-2010. Snyder was selected as vice chair after her nomination to the committee in 2005 by the Illinois Bankers Association (IBA), where she is a member of the organization's Compliance Advisory Committee. She is a highly-regarded compliance professional and Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, sought after to present at ABA and IBA events on issues such as risk management, compliance management programs, and the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering. She was a panelist at the ABA's Regulatory Compliance Conference in June, and is a member of the ABA's Regulatory Compliance Conference Committee. "This appointment is a wonderful recognition of Leaders Bank's management structure and systems, and the fact that Leaders has state of the art risk management operations," Snyder said. "Nationally, the ABA appreciates Leaders' perspective, as we are able to demonstrate how banks can implement some of the strategies of larger banks." |
